The 10 Daily Living activities

Each activity has between two and seven descriptors. Your highest-scoring descriptor on each activity counts; the points are then summed across the 10 activities.

  1. Activity 1: Preparing food
  2. Activity 2: Taking nutrition
  3. Activity 3: Managing therapy or monitoring a health condition
  4. Activity 4: Washing and bathing
  5. Activity 5: Managing toilet needs or incontinence
  6. Activity 6: Dressing and undressing
  7. Activity 7: Communicating verbally
  8. Activity 8: Reading and understanding signs, symbols and words
  9. Activity 9: Engaging with other people face to face
  10. Activity 10: Making budgeting decisions

Reliability test

For every descriptor, you must be able to do the activity safely, to an acceptable standard, repeatedly, and in a reasonable time. If you can do it only on a good day, you cannot do it reliably and the next-higher descriptor applies.
