What changed for 2026/27

Policy change · 1 July 2025The 4-point rule was removed

The proposed 4-point rule (which would have required claimants to score at least 4 points on a single Daily Living activity to qualify) was REMOVED from the Bill before enactment, after a Commons rebellion led by Labour backbenchers. Your award is calculated under unchanged 2026/27 rules.

Policy change · 22 July 2025UC and PIP Act 2025 enacted

The Act split the UC health element into a higher legacy rate (~£97/week) for existing LCWRA claimants and a lower rate (~£50/week) for new claims after commencement. PIP rates and descriptors are unchanged.

Take a printed copy of these four rates to your Citizens Advice or welfare-rights adviser. The numbers above are the 2026/27 statutory rates; what you receive depends on the points you score on the 10 Daily Living and 2 Mobility activities.

The reliability test applies to every descriptor. You must be able to do an activity safely, to an acceptable standard, repeatedly, and in a reasonable time. If you can do it only on a good day, you cannot do it reliably.

For an indicative score, use the descriptor-aware estimator.
