Total unlock value: PIP plus passported benefits
The headline PIP figure is the weekly award. The household figure is much larger once Carer's Allowance and Council Tax reduction are added. At the maximum (enhanced on both components plus a 35-hour-a-week carer), the combined annual value exceeds £15,000.
Annual headline figures
| Combination | Annual value |
|---|---|
| Standard on both components | £5,361.20 |
| Enhanced on both components | £9,747.40 |
| Enhanced both + Carer's Allowance (35 hr/wk carer) | £14,079.00 |
What the figures include and exclude
- Included: PIP weekly award (52 weeks), Carer's Allowance (52 weeks at £83.30/wk).
- Not included: Council Tax reduction (highly variable by council and band; typically £500-£2,000 per year).
- Not included: Blue Badge fuel-saving (parking only; no fuel subsidy).
- Not included: Motability allowance (PIP enhanced Mobility is used to pay the lease; not an additional payment).
Universal Credit stacking
PIP is fully disregarded as income for Universal Credit, so the figures above stack on top of any UC award. The UC health element (£50.00/week new-claim, £97.00/week legacy) is a separate payment that may also apply if you have limited capability for work-related activity.
Which passports are guaranteed vs discretionary
- Guaranteed by statute: Carer's Allowance (Daily Living trigger), Motability (enhanced Mobility), Blue Badge automatic routes.
- Discretionary or locally set: Council Tax reduction, disability premium top-ups, local-authority disability grants.
