Blue Badge from PIP

A Blue Badge entitles the holder to park in disabled spaces and on most yellow lines. PIP can give automatic eligibility, or you can apply on a discretionary basis. The fee is £10 in England, £20 in Scotland, free in Wales.

Automatic eligibility routes

Discretionary route

If you have an enduring and substantial disability but do not meet the automatic criteria, you can apply on a discretionary basis. The local authority assesses the application; some require a mobility test or a clinical letter.

How long does a Blue Badge last

A Blue Badge is valid for up to three years. If your PIP award ends earlier, the Blue Badge is usually re-issued only after a fresh PIP award is in place.

England: £10. Scotland: £20. Wales: free. The fee is set by the issuing local authority and is typically non-refundable.
